Hello,
I recieved your book at 5pm last night and I have just finnished reading it!!!!!! Not bad for a mum of 2. (good old nick jr) I am truely happy that your life turned round and that you now have the beauty of a real family. You are a remarkable person and I wish you all the happiness in the world. I too was sexually abused for many years by a member of the family and his friends, but nowhere near what you went through!!!! Thank you for writting this book, It gives the rest of us courage

Hi Joe, Like many people i bought your book to read whilst on holiday. I have read many similar books, as i was adopted at 4 after being treated very badly by my own mother...we had moved away from my father, so he had no idea about the abuse until i found him a couple of years ago. So i guess reading otheres accounts kind of makes you think 'i wasn't alone' if you see what i mean?! Your book was incredible...not only because of the abuse you suffered, but because of the catalogue of errors that allowed this to happen. I have always wondered myself how my abuse was allowed to go on for as long as it did, before my mother herself put me up for adoption...it's the only thing i can thank her for! But your own relatives and social services, school etc seemed to turn a blind eye, and forgot you even existed for years. To take the word of your mother time and again, even when the signs were obvious beggers belief. It angers me that this still goes on today... i was a child in the 60's and nothing much seems to have changed. There is also a clear message about the children that come out of this the other side... the human spirit is a wonderful thing....you have come out of it and married and had children yourself...and im sure you look at them and wonder how anyone could even think about harming a hair on their heads. My own teenagers read your book as well...and they, like me were astounded that things like this happen. I only dissagree with one thing.... why did you not want justice for your suffering?

Dear Joe,
I have read your book and was absolutely convinced on how lucky Iam to have a home I have today. God knows what would have happened if my mother didnt divorce my father and get me to live with her in London. You have truly put emotions and your whole heart in putting all the details of your childhood in this book. I was truly grabbed by each of the pages you have written. Iam only 12 years old, everyone says its weirds I like to read books that sad. But these arent just books, they are real life written stories that infct our society today. Abusing children needs to be stopped imidiately. Whilst reading tge third chapter [which touched me the most] about your athers death, my eyes were thilled with tears. But I guess everything has ended well as you have a loving wife and children. Hope you will be able to write back some day,
Your Sincerely,
Marlena [the fan]

Hi Joe.
Thank you for sharing your pain and suffering to help others. Not many people would put this type of information into the public eye,but it is greatly needed.
I have not had a bad upbringing like you, although i did grow up feeling hard done by.Reading your book broke my heart with all you went through. You have been terribly let down by your family, but worst of all by people who are paid and trained to help you. You gave them all the chances in the world to help you and possibly your family yet they chose to turn a blind eye. I am disgusted with the way our system works and feel this must change.
Whilst reading your book, i could see signs that indicated something was wrong from the first couple of chapters, yet your family got nothing.
I am at present training in child protection and i am on the second stage in January 09, my future will be heading in the area of need and i have booked marked your web site to keep up to date on how i can help.
i don't have any spare money to give but i will be giving my time as and when i need to in my local area for those who need it.
I WILL TAKE ON THE WORLD TO PROTECT ALL
I am so glad my tears changed from heartbroken-angry-relief to admiration as i came to the end of the book cry silent tears. I will pass this book around to all i know, and i am glad to have the opportunity to be part of Spreading the word.
I wish you and your beautiful family the best of luck in all that you do.

kind regards
Sandra.

hi mate i personally have not read your book, but my wife did and she read out parts too me in tears.what an awful and sadistic thing for a small chid to deal with.the shear torment of it is completely unbelieveable.you have shown by writing this book that you have come out the other end more of a man than any man you have ever known.you have amazing courage,im sure you broke down writing the book but that just shows people that read/hear about the book that you have the strength to fight,i hope that one day you could go to the authorities, then you will finally have justice and maybe one day a kind of CLOSURE..all the best to you all..

what a book,i read this in 6 hrs as i had to find out how you got away..it was the most horrific true story that i have ever read, how you had the strength to carry on only you will ever know..i know that your children will be the most cherished children around.i have sent an e-mail to my contacts to leave their signature for the world record.you are an amazing and strong person,i as of many would have crumbled and not been able to turn their lives around as you have so obviously have,i wish you and your family all the luck in the world..i can not wait until your new book is out..

Hi Joe, a true well done to all of your achievements. You are an inspiration. I only hope others who have suffered abuse grow strength from your book. I was very sorry to read that the authorities let you down drastically. Shame on all those who caused you all that agony, i hope now you have total contentment from your own family.
