I am in the middle of reading your book, which I find compelling and cannot put down. I read every page looking forward to knowing that you managed to escape your terrible childhood and that you could be helping others with your brave story. I am very lucky that I had a good upbringing and thank God for this. I cannot understand how any adult can treat their children in such a terrible way. Congratulations on your book and thank you for making us all aware of another side of life.

All i can say to you is your father will be so proud of you and god only knows how you came through this but you did and lets hope things change now about how social services deal with these matters. Ps i bet you are the best dad in the world and your children and your wife are lucky to have you. Joanne xx

Dear Joe,

I've just fnished reading your book after starting it yesterday afternoon- I couldn't put it down, desperate to understand and know that this little boy grew up into the remarkable, brave man that you are.

I'm a trainee teacher, and among many things, your story brought home to me the importance of listening to children, giving them the space, questioning their behaviour, and keeping a look out for them. I wanted to say thankyou for sharing your story, I don't think anyone can imagine how hard it must have been for you.

I have never read a book so intense, so emotional etc before, and I wanted to take the chance to say thankyou. You have taught me many things throughout your book that will influence my practice as a teacher, and myself as a person.

Best wishes...I shall buying your 2nd book when it's released!!

I have just finished reading your book, which only took me two days. May i say that the way you were treated by a woman who is supposed to love and protect you was shocking. I cried at the thought of what you went through. I am so so pleased for you that you have found happiness and joy in your wife and your children. I have told all i know about your book and the shocking situations that you went through and hopefully made them all aware that this is happening all around us.
God bless you and your wife and your children.
